Albany Wind Farm is located only 12 km from the city center and was officially opened in October 2001. It supplies the equivalent of 17,000 average WA homes with wind-generated electricity. The height of each tower is 65 metres and the length of every blade is 35 metres. On average there are only seven days in a year when the wind is not strong enough to turn the blades.
